Lisa Sofia, President and Chief Executive Officer
Since joining Deer Meadows in 1984, Lisa has served our community in many important roles and is currently serving in the dual role of Chief Executive Officer of Deer Meadows Retirement Community and President of BHP Services, a management company formed in 2007.
Lisa holds dual Masters Degrees in Health Care Administration and Public Health Education. which she earned with honors from St. Joseph’s University. Lisa is a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from LaSalle University. Lisa is currently a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and previously held a certification as a Personal Care Administrator in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Lisa’s other current certifications include Affordable Housing Manager, Professional of Occupancy and an Aging Services Professional.
Lisa’s extensive background in education, training and leadership within the healthcare profession focused primarily on the maturing adult and senior populations. She has developed a wide range of programs for all levels of clinical expertise from frontline clinical staff (Nursing Assistant) to LPN, RN and Physicians serving as Medical Directors and Attending Physicians. Ms. Sofia’s local and national presentations have included a variety of topics that range from clinical applications of architectural design in older buildings to clinical leadership and team management.
Ms. Sofia is the Past Chair for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of LeadingAge PA, (formerly known as SEPANPHA) and previously served that organization as the Chairperson of the Nurse Manager and Nurse Scholarship Committee. Lisa also serves as a non-voting Board member for the Reba Brown Senior Residence, a low income, affordable housing (202 PRAC) project. Lisa was pivotal in the development of the project from submission of the HUD application, to groundbreaking, ribbon cutting and occupancy fill up.

Sarah Hutchins, Residential Administrator
Sarah Hutchins is the Residential Administrator for Deer Meadows Retirement Community (DMRC). Sarah began at DMRC as a Social Services Intern in 2010 while she was finishing her degree at The Pennsylvania State University. Sarah was asked to become a part of the DMRC team upon graduating, and she began her professional career as a Social Service Worker in December 2010. Sarah was then promoted to be the Assistant Director of Social Services in March 2011. In March 2012, Sarah was promoted as the Resident Services and Sales Coordinator. In this integral role, Sarah helped welcome new members to our community coordinating Independent and Personal Care admissions.
In July of 2013 Sarah was promoted to be the Residential Administrator, overseeing the daily operations and regulatory compliance of all residential living. Sarah is a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) from the University of North Texas. Sarah is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, where she studied the science of Human Development and Family Studies. Sarah is a member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers). Sarah lives in Bensalem, PA with her Husband, John and their dog, Riley. Sarah is an active Archbishop Ryan High School Alumnus.
Veronica Gibbone, Nursing Home Administrator
Gary Shafor, Director of Plant Operations
Gary Shafor is the Director of Plant Operations for Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Gary joined the Deer meadows team in June of 2015. He oversees the daily operations for Maintenance, and ensures that all departmental needs are in compliance with Life Safety and Osha Regulations. Gary has been in the Long Term Care field for over 18 years and has an impeccable survey following.
Gary lives in Limerick, PA with his wife, 5 children and dogs, Brantley and Gilbert. Gary enjoys camping, watching NASCAR and playing cards.
