Babu Abraham, Director of Nursing
Babu is responsible for ensuring compliance with the state regulations for skilled nursing and providing quality care and services to all residents receiving rehabilitative care at Deer Meadows. Babu finds fulfillment in spending time with residents and learning about their hobbies and families. He is married with three beautiful children.
Margi Johnston, Director of Community Education and Co-Administrator for Personal Care
Margi is, a licensed nurse, first came to Deer Meadows as a Nurse Staff Developer in 2001. Her position utilizes her nursing skills to conduct educational training programs/seminars for employees, oversee nursing student programs, and supervise receptionists and the facility’s transportation department. She is also a certified Personal Care Administrator and an American Heart Association instructor for CPR and First Aid, enable her to successfully teach the required DPW Medication Management classes for Personal Care Medication Techs. Margi is an active member of the Se-Panpha Committee for Front Line Staff, which develops and schedules educational workshops throughout the year that are presented of various Long Term Care facilities. In addition to her daily responsibilities, Margi teaches classes for several outside nursing schools taking part in clinical rotations at DMRC and monthly education practicum’s for residents. Margi is also the head of the “Staff Working All Together Team” (known as “S.W.A.T.T.”), which encourages teamwork among employees and encourages a positive approach to DMRC’s overall mission.
Jerry Lathrop, Director of Community Activities
Jerry coordinates the Recreation/Activity Department, Gift Shop, volunteer program, holiday decorating, and a variety of other programs offered at DMRC. He coordinates recreational activities, entertainment, special events, residents’ trips and just plain FUN in every resident’s journey in life at DMRC. Through our Mission and Philosophy Statements, he is given the opportunity to encourage residents to live life to its fullest. Born and raised in Northeast Philly, he attended Lincoln High School. He owned and operated two flower shops and a decorating company before advancing to his position at DMRC, which he has held for seven years. He is currently continuing his education to achieve National Certification and maximize his knowledge to improve programs for DMRC residents. In 2007, Jerry was voted Manager of the Year by DMRC Board of Directors and his peers.
Sarah Macko, Residential Administrator
Sarah Macko is the Residential Administrator for Deer Meadows Retirement Community (DMRC). Sarah began at DMRC as a Social Services Intern in 2010 while she was finishing her degree at The Pennsylvania State University. Sarah was asked to become a part of the DMRC team upon graduating, and she began her professional career as a Social Service Worker in December 2010. Sarah was then promoted to be the Assistant Director of Social Services in March 2011. In March 2012, Sarah was promoted as the Resident Services and Sales Coordinator. In this integral role, Sarah helped welcome new members to our community coordinating Independent and Personal Care admissions.
Sarah was promoted to be the Residential Administrator, overseeing the daily operations and regulatory compliance of all residential living. Sarah is a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) from the University of North Texas. She also continues to work as a Social Worker arranging services for the residents at Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Sarah is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, where she studied the science of Human Development and Family Studies. Sarah is a member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) and a member of PAN (Pennsylvania Association of Notaries). Sarah lives in Philadelphia, PA.
Kamiksha Patel, Resident Health Center Coordinator
Kamiksha Patel, LPN is the Resident Health Center Coordinator of Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Kamiksha began her career at DMRC as a Medication Technician in the Resident Health Center for two years and was then promoted to the position of nursing supervisor. Kamiksha is a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Kamiksha is also a licensed personal care home administrator with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Kamiksha works under the direction of the personal care administrator and medical director, and is responsible for supervising the LPNs, medication technicians, and social service assistants. She ensures that the staff provides quality care and services to all residents living in the residential area of Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Kamiksha lives in Langhorne, PA with her husband Samir and her two sons, Darsh and Ayan.
