Michael Jacobs, CEO

Michael is the Executive Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Michael is a licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and NHA (Nursing Home Administrator). Also, Michael has earned an MBA from La Salle University, concentrating in Health Care Administration. Michael, as well as being a Fellow of the Health Care Financial Management Association (FHFMA) is also a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) from the University of North Texas, affiliated with American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). Michael has been in the Long Term Care field for over 25 years and has been a general accountant, Chief Financial Officer and currently Chief Executive Officer.

Michael has presented on various topics for PANPHA (Pennsylvania Association Non-Profit Homes for the Aging), AAHSA (American Association of Homes & Services for the Aging) as well as presenting on various topics to non-profit organization boards and senior managers. Currently, Michael is a presenter on the Quality First initiative for AAHSA.

Michael is a strong believer in volunteerism and has volunteered in various capacities for non-profit organizations such as AAHSA, Community Accountants of Philadelphia, Calvary Church, Memorial Baptist Church, PANPHA, SEPANPHA, and LaSalle University.

Michael and his wife Leslie Ann live in Harleysville Pennsylvania with their three children Josh, Sarah & Elizabeth.

Mary Morrison, CFO

Mary is the Chief Financial Officer of Deer Meadows Retirement Community, a Continuing Care Retirement Community. Mary earned a BA from La Salle University, with a concentration in Accounting. Mary spent 14 years in public accounting, specializing in the healthcare industry, prior to joining the organization.

Lisa Sofia, COO

Lisa is the Chief Operating Officer and Community Administrator of Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Lisa has been a part of our Community here at Deer Meadows Retirement Community since 1984. Through the years, Lisa has served in many important roles. She has a Bachelors Degree of Science in Nursing from LaSalle University and is a Registered Nurse. Lisa is a licensed Nursing Home and Personal Care Administrator in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a Certified Aging Services Professional. Additionally, Lisa serves as the Privacy and Security Officer for HIPAA. Lisa is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Health Care Administration.

She has an extensive background in education, training and leadership within the healthcare industry. She has developed a wide range of programs for all levels of clinical expertise from frontline clinical staff (Nursing Assistant) to LPN, RN and Physicians serving as Medical Director. Ms Sofia has presented at the local and national level on topics that range from clinical applications of architectural design in older buildings to clinical leadership and team management. She is a Surveyor for the Accreditation Commission., evaluating organizations nationally. The evaluation includes review and assessment of the senior programs, training and services for compliance with the CARF professional standards. Lisa is an active member of Pennsylvania Association for Not for Profit Homes and serves as the Chairperson of the Nurse Manager and Nurse Scholarship Committee for the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of PANPHA. Ms Sofia is a current Board member for the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of PANPHA and was pivotal in the development of the Support Services Program for submission of a HUD application to the Department of Public Welfare. She serves on the:

  • Education Task Force Committee for PANPHA Conference for June 2005, 2006 and 2007.
  • Committee Member of the Public Policy Committee for PANPHA
  • Committee Member of the Advocacy Committee for PANPHA
  • AAHSA House of Delegates appointed August 2006 to present.
  • SEPANPHA Board of Directors

Liz Harbison, Director of Marketing, Public Relations &Sales

Liz is the Director of Marketing, Public Relations, and Sales at Deer Meadows Retirement Community. Liz attended Bucks County Community College and La Salle University, concentrating in Business Administration. Liz is a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) from the University of North Texas, affiliated with American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). Liz holds the position of Secretary of the Board for the Marketing & Public Relations Society (MPRS). Liz has been in the Long Term Care field for over 17 years, has held a Personal Care Administrator License and is currently on the Executive Management Team and General Management Team at Deer Meadows Retirement Community.

As part of her Social Accountability, Liz also participates in community volunteerism as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Pennypack Park Music Festival and the Education Advocacy Committee for Pennsylvania Association Non-Profit Homes for the Aging (PANPHA). Liz also sits on the Advisory Board for the Handicapped for Lower Makefield Township and the Board of Directors for the Bee-Long Older Adult Life Enrichment Centers.

Liz and her husband of over 40 years Tom, live in Yardley Pennsylvania with their family pet, Toby a forever loyal black Labrador retriever. They share a love of family and have been blessed with three children Tom Jr (in memoriam), Tod, and Elizabeth, ‘special’ daughter’s Rosemary and Sarah and an ever growing number of grand children, 11 at present and two more due this year.

Roger Heckman, Director of Plant Operations

Roger has been employed by Deer Meadows for just over six years, with a background in public school building maintenance and 28 years ownership of a manufacturing and retail sales business.

Other experiences include, teaching adult education classes at Monroe County Vocational Technical School, a Pennsylvania governor-appointed position as Emergency Management Coordinator for Monroe County, and 22 years of emergency service dedication. His responsibilities at Deer Meadows include directing the Maintenance Department, Security Department, Construction Manager, and Building and Grounds.

Bruce McNamee, Director of Human Relations

Bruce attended Word of Life Bible Institute for two years in Schroon Lake, NY in the Adirondack Mountains and then finished his B.S. degree at Philadelphia College of Bible in Langhorne, PA. After an academic break of about 10 years Bruce went back to school to earn his MBA with a concentration in Human Resources at West Chester University in West Chester, PA.

Bruce has been a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) since 2000 and has also been certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) since 2000. Additionally, he has received a certificate for studies in Human Resources from Villanova University. Bruce has been working in the Human Resources field for over 12 years and in the Health Care Industry for 7 years.

Bruce is a member of the Human Resources Committee for SEPANPHA as well as a member of the Southeastern PA chapter of SHRM.

Bruce serves as one of the elders in his local church in Yardley, PA and lives with his wife and four children in Bucks County, PA.
